Rose Standish Nichols was a textile artist, stitching throughout her life. Profoundly influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement ideal that we should surround ourselves with beautiful handcrafted objects, Rose embroidered items she used everyday, bringing color and ornamentation to her domestic spaces. She was also a collector, acquiring historic textiles that informed her work and enlivened her home. Dress and Textile Historian Elizabeth Weisblatt will lead a focused look at highlights of the Nichols House Museum textile collection, featuring items both created and collected by Rose Nichols.
