Hours

Tours are offered Thursday through Saturday at 10 am, 11 am, and 12 pm.
On Sundays, tours are offered at 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm.

The only way to visit the museum is through guided tour and museum programs. The Museum is across three floors with no elevator and has one small bathroom. Enjoy the mini-exhibition and gift shop in the lobby while you are here.

Directions

By Car:

Parking in Beacon Hill is very limited. Most spaces are reserved for residents, although there are a few 2-hour visitor spaces and 2-hour metered spaces on Beacon Street and Charles Street. The most convenient place to park if you are driving to the Museum is the Boston Common Garage. Please see their website for current rates. The Museum is unable to validate parking.

*Please note: For online directions, enter “Nichols House Museum” rather than the address, or confirm your destination as 55 Mount Vernon Street, 02108 in Boston, not Dorchester.

By Subway:

  1. Take the Red or Green Lines to Park Street Station
  2. Walk through Boston Common to reach Beacon Street (towards the State House)
  3. From Beacon Street, walk up either Joy or Walnut Streets to reach Mount Vernon Street
  4. From Walnut Street, turn right onto Mount Vernon Street
  5. From Joy Street, turn left onto Mount Vernon Street
  6. The Museum is number 55

By Bike:

The City of Boston offers bike-sharing. The nearest bike stations are Cambridge Street at Joy Street or Tremont Street at West Street.

By Rail:

  • From North Station: A 15-20 minute walk, or by Green Line to Park Street Station
  • From South Station: Red Line to Park Street Station
  • From Back Bay Station: Orange Line to Downtown Crossing Station

Group Tours

The Nichols House Museum welcomes groups of five or more at a discounted rate of $12 per person; the Museum offers a flexible rate for schools, universities, and other non-profit groups.
